Sk8Trip to Guajataka

Nestled in the hills of Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, the Guajataka Downhill has become THE main attraction for island locals, party animals, and skaters worldwide. With thousands more curious souls flocking to the race this year, the sidelines frequently spilled out onto a live track, with both spectators and skaters taking some heavy hits. The 2013 race was wet and wild and had its fair share of problems, but skaters always manage to find a way to make the best of it.

Although best known for its surfing, Puerto Rico's downhill skateboarding scene is exploding. Can't afford leathers? Don't matter here. Put on a full faced helmet and the girls, groms and guys wearing jeans, t-shirts or whatever race right along side the pros. Tight packs, rain showers, and adrenaline charged fans put the Guajataka Downhill at the top of the list for stops on the downhill skateboarding circuit.

Between freeriding and drinking pina coladas on the beach, we caught up with several old faces and met some new ones too. A HUGE shoutout to the locals - their hospitality is unmatched in skating circles. Sandy beaches, amazing weather, and plenty of hills to skate ... what's not to love about Puerto Rico?
